A live encounter with active animals is more fun and educational than any animal film or book! Because students learn a lot about animals and plants during a day at the zoo, they come to understand the importance of all efforts to protect nature. Discover Diergaarde Blijdorp as an extension of natural science education. With the zoo just around the corner, special encounters with exotic flora and fauna are within reach for every grade level. Our lessons, tailored to the year level, challenge students to observe and discover. They will marvel at strange behaviors, physical displays, odd walks, unusual eating habits, and different forms of coexistence. Watching, smelling, listening, and experiencing—it all happens in Diergaarde Blijdorp.
For a guided lesson you pay €5.00 per person for the 2023/2024 school year.
The municipality of Rotterdam supports Blijdorp in its educational goals and makes an annual educational subsidy available to achieve these goals. One of those goals is to introduce every Rotterdam student to the zoo and its residents. To support schools within the Rotterdam borders, we offer Rotterdam schools a 50% discount on an educational visit.
