Frequently asked questions reopening

Rotterdam Zoo (Blijdorp) can be visited again daily by everyone. To ensure that you can enjoy the animals safely and carefree in a natural environment, we have taken several measures. For example, you will only be admitted upon presentation of a time slot reservation and a valid entrance ticket (subscription or e-ticket). Read below what your visit to our zoo will look like.

Opening hours

Our zoo is open daily from 09:00 – 17:00. From summer time (daylight changing time) we are open from 09:00 – 18:00 hrs. Exceptions to the opening hours Sinterklaas, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day open until 16:00 and New Year’s Day open from 10:00. You may stay in our zoo from the reserved entry time (time slot) until closing time.

TIME SLOTS & TICKETS

A time slot reservation (=entrance/arrival time) and a valid entrance ticket or season ticket card is mandatory for a visit at our zoo. You need to reserve a date and time. This is only possible via the website, not by phone or email.

TICKETS & TIME SLOTS

Entrance

You can enter through the main entrance on the Oceanium side and the Riviera Hall side. To visit the ticket office (to collect season tickets for example) you need a time slot reservation including a ticket office visit. Please note: this is only possible at the main entrance Oceanium side (Blijdorplaan).
At the entrance, there is no QR-corona check yet. We are following the rules of the national government. If there are any changes, we will communicate this.

Mouth mask compulsary

In all indoor locations it is compulsory to wear a mouth mask from the age of 13. This also applies to all other places where you cannot keep a 1.5-metre distance. This advice also applies to toilets. Washable mouth masks are for sale in the souvenir shop Zee van ZOOvenirs at the main entrance.

Indoor locations open

The indoor locations (Oceanium, Taman Indah, Amazonica, Rivièrahal etc.) are open. The public laboratory and the deep sea exhibit are still closed.

Restaurants and terraces

Various catering (take-away) locations are open. To visit our indoor restaurants, you need a corona access card. You will not be served on the outside terraces; these are intended for takeaway only. Therefore, a QR check is not necessary on outdoor terraces.

SEASON TICKET HOLDERS

Can I bring my guests?

As a season ticket holder, you can bring along your guests during this first period. Buy an introduction ticket via the website or at the box office. You can bring a maximum of 4 guests a day with a 25% discount on the regular ticket price. Please note: You must also make an appointment to visit the box office. A time slot must also be reserved for the guests.

Can I buy a season ticket and then go straight in?

Yes, you can reserve a time slot at the box office (this is only possible at the main entrance on the Oceanium side).

My season ticket has expired during the lockdown, what now?

If your season ticket has expired during the lockdown, so on or after December 15, you can still use your season ticket. We will compensate subscribers by extending the subscription period by the period we were closed during the subscription period. Of course you can also support us by opting out of this compensation. We will approach season ticket holders about this by email.

My season ticket is about to expire, but I would like to continue supporting Diergaarde Blijdorp/Rotterdam Zoo right now. What can I do?

The COVID closures have had a huge impact on Rotterdam Zoo. Every form of support is very welcome. Although the ticket office of Blijdorp is temporarily closed, you can always renew your season ticket through My Abo. This way you support Blijdorp and get a 5% discount. You can also make a donation or buy a nice gift in our webshop.

DAY VISITORS

I already bought a day ticket, what now?

Cancelling is not necessary. All tickets that were valid until 31 December 2020 will be extended by the number of days that Blijdorp was closed. This also applies to action tickets (Samen Sterk/Jumbo Dagje-Uit/Kruidvat) and lotteries. Tickets bought through one of our ticket partners are already provided with a time slot reservation. Please check your ticket or contact the point of sale for more information.

Discount pass (Rotterdampas, Ooievaarspas, Dordtpas) or coupon

At the Oceanium side (Blijdorplaan 8) a cash register is open for the following administrative actions:

  • Redeeming a discount coupon
  • Scanning discount passes (Rotterdampas, Ooievaarspas, Dordtpas).
  • Purchasing, extending or changing a season ticket.
  • Creating a pass.

I had reserved a time slot in the period that Zoo Blijdorp is closed. What happens to it?
